Anna Lee Powell

December 4, 1934 — November 26, 2020

Westernport

Anna Lee (Henry) Powell, 85, of Lonaconing, MD, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 26, 2020 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center in Lonaconing where she has resided since October 2018.

Born December 4, 1934 in Westernport, MD, she was the daughter of the late Boyce Adam Henry and Mary Laverne (Hotchkiss) Henry of Westernport, MD. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Maxine (Mickey) Orndoff and Shirley Jean Taylor, nephews, Kenneth Orndoff and Jame Orndoff and her grandson, Adam Wayne Thomas.

Surviving is her husband of 66 years, Billy J. Powell Sr. She is also survived by her oldest son, Richard Lee Henry, her sons, Billy J Powell Jr. and wife, Susan, Rickie E. Powell, Scott L. Powell and girlfriend, Roxanne Rowe, Rupert P Riley and girlfriend, Autumn, also her only daughter, confidant, and partner in crime, Tracy L Thomas, as well as her much loved grandchildren, Shanna, Jesse, Lydia and Sadie Powell and Codi (Powell) Sines. Anna Lee is also survived by her two great grandchildren, Isabell Lee Peirce and Easton James Sines. She had a special love and connection with Ricardo Rivera and welcomed him into our family for the past 26 years. He could always put a smile on her face.

Anna Lee was a homemaker by heart and managed all aspects of running a household while also raising five boys and a girl. She used to be a foster parent and she never came across a baby she didn’t love. Every one of us had a unique and quite different relationship with her. But we all share the memories of the love, the discipline and the laughter. She was the mother and grandmother we all needed on our side.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the nurses and Staff at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center for the dedication to their profession and compassionate care given to our mother during her residency. She knew how to make them laugh with her little “diddies” and rhymes that would make Mother Goose wince. But we all loved them and we all loved her.

Anna Lee’s body will be interred at Frostburg Memorial Park in Frostburg, MD. Boal Funeral Home in Westernport is in charge of arrangements.

Due to COVID restrictions and the time we now live in, the family wishes to forego having a viewing and will instead have a family only graveside ceremony officiated by Deacon Harold Bradley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of your choice.
