Alice Stephens Warnick

Alice Harvey Stephens Warnick, 89 of Westernport, MD, passed from this life to the next on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Western Maryland Health System, Cumberland.

Born October 3, 1928 in Luke, Maryland, the daughter of Victor H. Harvey and Clara Bell. Preceded in death by husband Richard Stephens and Fred Warnick and Brothers; Harry (Red), Vic, Glenn, and sister Daisy.

Alice was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, faithful friend and fervent Christian.

She leaves behind sons, Terry (Paula), Keyser; Don, Westernport; Bob (Linda), Oakland, and daughter Victoria Ames (Patrick), Huntersville NC; six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister, Pat Mantone (Ralph), Ledgewood NJ; and sister-in-law Katherine Harvey, Bloomington.

Later in life when she married her second husband, Fred Warnick, she took on an additional family, loving his children and grandchildren as her own.

Alice was a joyful woman who lived a good story, loved well, served with joy, and believed the best in people. She visited the sick, invited people to meals, made things with her hands and seldom left home without a jar of soup, a gift, or a bouquet of flowers for a shut-in along the way.

She spent her life serving other, working tirelessly, and often serving in leadership roles.  She had a soft spot for the Burlington Children’s Home and served as president of the Burlington auxiliary.  She taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, and volunteered with Church Women United.

Alice loved birthday parties, holidays, balloons, flowers, and good laughs. Her life made a difference in the world around her, and she will be sorely missed.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD on Saturday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  On Sunday there will be a visitation from 1 to 2 with a service following at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont.  Interment will be at Philos Cemetery in Westernport following the service.
