Alice “Ginger” Louise (Kenney) Bean, 84, of Barton, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018 at Western Maryland Health System, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born November 20, 1933 in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Ignatius “Chris” Loyola and Alice Marie (Doolan) Kenney. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward J. Kenney and a grandson, Christopher Wigington.
“Ginger” was a graduate of Ursuline Academy, Cumberland. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Barton and was awarded the Medal of Honor by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. She was a former employee at Moran Manor Nursing Rehab. “Ginger” was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Her main interests were her family and grandchildren.
She leaves behind her husband of 60 years, John “Jack” Francis Bean, daughter, Roxanne Wigington (Jay), sons, John Bean Jr., Greg Bean (Robin), Brian Bean (Mary), grandchildren, Jill Brooke, Karle Bean, Keri Bean, Joey Myers, Katie Myers, great grandchildren, Haley Brooke, Gregory Brooke, Joe Estep, Chelsea Wigington, Caylee Wigington and Chris Wigington. She is also survived by a sister, Christine Foote and sisters-in-law, Wanda Kenney Hanna, Margaret Fram and Barbara Bean
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Sunday from 3 to 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Parish St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Barton, on Monday at 10:00 AM, with Monsignor Paul Byrnes as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Barton.
