Alan Douglas Clark, 53 of Barton, MD, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a short battle with colon cancer.

Alan was born in Frostburg, MD, on April 23, 1964. He was the son of Victor Earl, Sr., and Donna Lee (Jones) Clark. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Daniel Ellsworth and Isabel Victoria Jones, and Thomas John and Verna Eleanor Clark.

He was a 1982 graduate of Valley High School and Vo-Tech. Following a family tradition of coal miners, Alan and Vic established Cobra Mining, Inc., in 1994, and he was the Vice President and co-owner. A very special thank you to Mr. Harry Eckhart and Mr. Donnie Moran for letting the Clark brothers continue their coal journey together over these last 23 years. He loved his workers and treated them like family and he was very thankful for the customers of Cobra Mining. Alan was very appreciative of the local coal companies and their continued support of Cobra Mining.

Alan loved to travel, especially cruising the seas with Tabby, and attending country music concerts. Alan always believed in supporting local businesses in his hometown of Barton.

Alan is survived by his wife, Tabatha “Tabby” Irene Clark; daughter, Tasha Lynn Clark and Christopher Devin Murray; stepchildren, Amanda Nicole and Mikel Anthony Mathieson, Meghan Leann and Colin Edward Banco, Logan Alan Walker and Grace­­­­­ Lynn Shaw; grandchildren, Connall Douglas Murray, Austin Mikel, Payden Sue, Karson Alan, and Kelsey Leann Mathieson; brothers, Victor Earl, Jr., and Deanna Marie Clark, Kevin Michael Clark and Annmarie Elkins; sister, Michele Lee Clark Leatherman and Jeremiah Charles Fairgrieve; nieces and nephews, Christina Marie and David Brian Ujcic, Brian Lewis and Jennifer Hardman Clark, Charity Noel Clark, Preston Thomas Leatherman, Sadee Ashton Fairgrieve; great niece and nephew, Cambrya Madelyn and Cash Weston Clark. Alan is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Sunday, October 22nd from 2 to 6 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 23rd at 11:00 am with the Rev. Otis Lancaster officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service

Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

Tabby and the family would like to especially thank Alan’s good buddies that helped in any way, from carrying his wheelchair, remodeling, and building a very special elevator to fulfill Alan’s wishes of coming home. Pallbearers will be Jerry Miller, Dale Fairgrieve, Randy Griffith, Robert “Hap” Harvey, Donnie Bennett, Steve Kyle, Paul Flanagan, Logan Walker, and Chris Murray.
