A. Delberta (Fazenbaker) Schramm, 94, of Barton passed away on January 4, 2024.

 

Born July 5, 1929 in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Delphi (Miller) Fazenbaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Dimps” Schramm in 2003; and infant son, William H. in 1955; twin great granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann and Jessica Leigh Metz in 1994; granddaughter, Marsha Broadwater Mullan; three brothers, Lee, Louis and Grover Fazenbaker; two sisters, Elsie Creegan and Ruth Llewellyn.

 

Delberta was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Barton. She was President of the Ladies Guild, Bible leader for the Presby Circle and the Hub for the Prayer Wheel. Delberta was a choir member and Sunday School teacher for 40 years, and served as Superintendent for almost 20 years. She led the Youth Group for 12 years and also served as the Clerk of Session and Chairman of the Program Committee.

 

Delberta was a member of the Fireman Ladies Auxiliary, the Central High School Alumni Association and served on the Town of Barton Committee for the dedication of the Little Leage field and the Bicentennial Celebration. Delberta served on the Party in the Park Committee and organized the Kiddies Parade for 16 years. She was a member of the Barton School PTA for 17 years and served as the President, Vice President, Secretary and the Chairman of Ways and Means Committee.  

 

Delberta was a proud baseball Mom, she was the secretary, treasurer and manager of the concession stand for the Barton Little League for 12 years. She was the chairperson of the House to House Cancer Drive in Barton from 1969 to 1986, as well as several years for the Heart Association.

 

Delberta owned and operated Schramm’s Store from 1979 to 1994, and then helped at the Duo Restaurant in Barton.

 

Delberta is survived by her children, Margie Broadwater and husband Stanley, Barbara DeShong and husband Dwight, James Schramm, and John Schramm and wife Marla. She is survived by her seven grandchildren, Brian Broadwater, Jennifer Metz and husband Dave, Dawn George and husband Jason, David DeShong and wife Heather, Eric Schramm and wife Kari, Ed Schramm and Shawna McGinnis, Tyler Schramm; and bonus grandson, George Stewart. Delberta is survived by her eight great grandchildren, Derek Metz and wife Sarah, Kaitlin George, Kelsie Schramm, Elizabeth Schramm, Taylor Schramm, Brenan DeShong, Aubri DeShong and Reece Schramm. She is survived by her brother, H. Ellis Fazenbaker; sister-in-law, Joan Fazenbaker, brothers-in-law, Joe Schramm and wife Regina, Kenny Schramm and wife Patty; daughter-in-law, Kathy Schramm; longtime friends Monta Jean Kyle and Shirley Colmer; and numerous nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

 

The Schramm family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Egle Nursing and Rehab 2nd floor staff and the UPMC, the 3rd floor cardiac staff, the 7south staff, and Linda Kraus and Dr. Al for their excellent care and kindness.

 

Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Sunday, January 7th from 3 to 5 p.m.

 

A funeral service will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Barton on Monday, January 8th at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Thomas Morgan officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.

 

Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Barton, the Barton Hose Company, George’s Creek Ministerial Association, the Tri-Towns or George’s Creek Ambulance Service, the Shriners Hospital for Children, or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
