Benjamin Hotchkiss Ii

April 14, 1951 — February 28, 2023

Edgewater, Florida

Benjamin Franklin Hotchkiss II, 71 of Edgewater FL, and formerly of Jefferson Maryland passed away on February 28, 2023.

Born April 14, 1951, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Hotchkiss and Peggy Hotchkiss. He was also preceded in death by his wife, June Ann Hotchkiss.

Ben was a man of many talents and passions. Growing up watching his father work for the railroad and enjoying westerns on TV, and adventuring the Appalachia mountains he developed a deep appreciation for hard work and the outdoors. As a result, he spent much of his life working with his hands, whether it was woodworking, hunting, fishing, or just being outside in nature. Despite his love for the outdoors, Ben was also a steadfast provider for his family and any stray kid that needed a hand. He never wavered in his commitment to supporting them, always working hard to ensure their needs were met. But beyond his role as a provider, Ben was also known for his kind heart and sense of humor. He was a jokester who loved to make people laugh, and his generosity knew no bounds.

One of the greatest joys of Ben's life was his relationship with his wife, Annie. They met at a young age, at a drive-in theater, when they were just 13 years old. From that moment on they were inseparable. They shared a deep love and respect for one another that lasted a lifetime, and their marriage was a shining example of true partnership and devotion.

As a father, Ben taught his sons the value of strength, pride, and standing up for what they believed in. He instilled in them a sense of confidence and determination, he always encouraged them to pursue their dreams. He was a role model and a hero to his family, his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched throughout his life. In addition to being a devoted husband and father, Ben was also overjoyed to be a grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved them more than words could express. Being a grandfather brought a new level of happiness and fulfillment to Ben's life.

One of Ben's favorite times of the year was the first snowfall before hunting season. He looked forward to this event with great anticipation, knowing that it marked the start of another exciting hunt. The crisp chill in the air, filled him with a sense of adventure and anticipation. He loved nothing more than heading out into the woods with his hunting companions and sons, feeling the thrill of the hunt and the camaraderie that came with it. These moments were among the most cherished memories of his life, and he treasured them always.

Ben is survived by his sons, Benjamin Franklin Hotchkiss III and wife Chantelle and Lewis Hotchkiss and wife Laura; his grandchildren, Alivia, Brady, June, and his newest granddaughter Scarlet, whom he was looking forward to meeting; and sisters, Sharon and Debbie.
